Hilary: Tackling the Tom Burgos Kitten

Hilary submitted:

Tackling the Tom Burgos Kitten… le-mec’s was very cool as a design, but it turned Kitten into a completely different character instead of Cat-Man’s spunky girl sidekick, so I went ahead and drew this:

So what I was trying to do was make something that looked decent using the costume I was given (which only differs from Kitten’s original outfit by having no sleeves and folded boot tops instead of being long-sleeved and straight-booted), because the costume variant Tom drew isn’t bad: she’s no more exposed than a competitor at a track meet; apart from the heels (which are at least pretty chunky) and the cape (but come on, it was the 1940s, cut the artists a little slack) it looks pretty practical. I also tried to capture the overall feeling that I think Tom may have been aiming for but missed completely, swinging carefree between the rooftops and obviously enjoying herself instead of floating along like some bizarre UFO and giving a creepily manic expression to the balloon she must be towing (because she obviously isn’t HANGING from that rope, not with her arms in the position they’re in).

Yes, I know her right thigh’s still too long and her hands are probably too small… I probably could have fixed the leg but I got lazy. If this were a commission or something instead of just goofing around I would have.

Very classic Batman and/or Robin, and you kept her original design.
