I’m still trying to figure out how her right leg works…

I was about to say “that looks fine” and then I noticed that foot.

This was fantastic practice. I learned a lot about legs today—or at least how legs connect to the pelvis.

When I first saw this, I noticed many issues. Visually, this was how I dissected it:

1.) The angle of the shoulders does not play nice with the angle of the breasts. One arm raised and one arm lowered will raise and lower the pectoral muscles underneath, and henceforth shift the angle of the breasts.

2.) Her left arm is connected somewhere out to Venus. There’s definitely no shoulder involved.

3.) Her pelvis is wider at one end and smaller at the other. Being that her right leg is in the foreground compared to her left, this sort of foreshortening is nonsensical.

4.) Someone left a shoe where the other half of her leg should be.

I did a very, very, very loose sketch of her bone structure, focusing primarily on her hip issue and the direction her body is trying to go into. You can see around her bottom end that her pelvis isn’t doing what it’s supposed to.

Another problem that I find is that there’s a lack of strength in her posture. Her hair suggests one movement and the placement of her foot suggests something different. And then there’s the dainty left hand for a movement that ought to be strong and rooted.

Very, very, very quick and dirty sketch, and I used a lot of mirror work to correct additional problems. Gave the hips the motion that her pelvis suggests and moved her lower half forward to give her the allusion of leaning backward. Changed the motion of her hair. Gave her a FIST, DAMN IT.

I also made her figure more pronounced and strengthened her legs. I HAVE NO REGRETS.

Simple redraw. It’s not perfect, there are still some issues that I’d like to correct, but I already learned a lot from this experiment and I need to consume food now!!!!
