Is there some sort of law in comic book world that prevents a woman’s body from ever being able to face their foe?

Oh my god I am in physical pain, seriously my back is sore looking at this and I am lying in bed

she is is like a stack of cards all facing different directions

or a pile of books that haven’t been arranged according to size and are just sticking out all over the place

And it isn’t as though women aren’t attractive from the front.

It’s real easy. If you’re going for a sexyposepinuptypecover™, take your pick. If you want to show the hinder, then a full back-shot works. That, however, requires you to show what said character is facing off against. Sure, we don’t get the face, but we do get the huge frikkin’ Sentinel or Wendigo or Sauron or whatnot, so there’s an element of story and tension to the cover.

In this case, all I know is that I, the viewer, have come upon this strange woman on a rocky beach. “Excuse me!” I say. “Don’t form-fitting segmented metal pants pinch?”

She is so startled that she swings around at the waist. I don’t have to worry about her mutant powers, because in 2 seconds she’s going to spin-tumble right onto the ground. She won’t feel the impact, as the placid, emotionless expression indicates she is blitzed on opiates.

All that remains is to dial 911 and advise her to not move, since she seems to have somehow suffered a spinal break before she even hit the ground.

^ I approve of that commentary.
