Help Us Stay Housed!

capesandwhips:

I’m going to keep this brief, but my partner and I are, yet again, veering far too close for comfort towards eviction. It is a better situation than last month, where the circumstances outlined here meant we were very far from making rent (and it took so long to get help that we got an actual eviction notice and only got the rent+fees in at the literal eleventh hour), but being close and actually having it are two different things.

So, taking into account processing fees, my partner and I need $200 and change in by September 1. That amount accounts for the automatic monthly withdrawal for the auto insurance, the immediate amount that we need to run out and pay on the internet service in the morning (so I can actually work the last day of the work month), and paying the rent while leaving enough in my bank account for it to technically still have something in it.

Technically isn’t enough to buy any food (or refill the gas tank on the car, or buy toiletries that need replacing asap) or to pay the remainder on the internet bill, the very large power bill (multiple months plus a couple heatwaves), and the auto loan to avoid a car repo, but at this point we need to at least be housed and alive for any of those other pressing deadlines to actually matter.

To that end, if at all possible, it would help us out if anyone who is able to donate would use Venmo to give their donation. It has a lot faster turnaround for depositing the funds into my bank account than PayPal does and individual days matter, especially when it comes to making rent. Even once people were able to work a last minute miracle last time, we still spent ‘days’ not knowing if we would be out on the streets (and also sued) or if we’d be able to get the money in on time since it was the bulk of donations were through PayPal and the processing of the transfers was taking so long.

Venmo: www.venmo.com/capesandwhips or click here (full service is U.S. only but allows anonymous donations - type anything in the first and last name blanks)

PayPal: use ittousagi@hotmail.com (accepts international currency)

YouCaring Fundraiser: located here (goal amount updated to be the amount needed on top of what was previously earned for the rent+accruing late fees+$20 for the sheet of printer paper they put the eviction notice on fee)

Thank you to everyone who already signal-boosted and donated, even if I was too exhausted and demoralized at the time (and fighting the disordered eating that this situation has made me develop and keeps making me relapse on) to give the proper thanks, and thank you in advance to everyone for signal boosting and donating this time. <3 We’ve managed to hang on this long but it’s really hard to work (or job hunt) when you’re this chronically stressed and demoralized and underfed (and my vitamins ran out, so there’s not even that compensating for the current underfedness and now long term deficiencies), and even thinking about writing this just brought on more trouble sleeping and settling down and fresh waves of feeling like I should just go off and die.

Hopefully people can come through for us but right now I need to get this posted, get some excuse for sleep, and then have an extremely long day of getting what more work I can in before the work month ends and hoping for the best (pay day is the middle of the next month, so whatever I was able to accomplish despite the terrible month can’t even help until the 15th or slightly earlier). So, thank you all again and in advance and goodnight/goodmorning/etc. <3

I’m reblogging this because we still haven’t met our original goal (and $50 of what was donated is still being processed by PayPal and isn’t even available to transfer yet) and the apartment complex is going to start adding fees and officially serve the eviction notice (and charge $20 for the sheet of printer paper it’s on). As well, we discovered this morning that the car had been repossessed without notice. So, we are stranded inside an apartment we’re going to get evicted from, slowly starving (or finishing starving - not sure what going from 600 calories a day to 300 and, soon, to 0 counts as). I’ve updated the fundraiser goal, but as in my original post, Venmo would be a preferable donation method if you’re able to donate and are located in the US. The turn around time really matters in getting evicted or not (the absolute last day to get the check in, ready to be cashed, will probably be the 8th), and would also matter in getting food if we weren’t trapped in the apartment with no vehicle.

I know I reblogged this couple’s cry for help a while ago but they’re still in really dire straits, and have had their car repossessed on top of being unable to make rent or buy food.  Again, I don’t usually do this, but I wanted to try to help by at least getting the word out.

The donation site is there (additional ways to donate are in the post body), if you can’t help at least signal boost if you can.

Thank you
