Psylocke vs "ninjas" redraw

Disclaimer: I am not a professional. I do not consider myself a better artist than the original author. I do, however, feel I have a right to call the hero out, so to speak. Also, please do critique, I appreciate it!

Admitedly I wanted to do something a bit more complex, but after fiddling with this whole afternoon I called it quits. Maybe next time.

So.

I’ve picked this picture of Psylocke… first, because I think Psylocke, Shi and Darkchylde are something like the patron saints of Escher Girls (martyr saints, obviously). Poor poor souls.

And second, this is the kind of pictures that drives me up a wall: “Heeere we go… random squiggle… boobs, ass, pouty face, flowy hair… OK, all done.”

First, a “redline” (animated):

Yeesh.

Now what? The pose is pretty hopeless. Not only it’s broken, it’s also unclear. The Middle Ninja carrying her over his shoulder, the sword stabbed into her knee… everything gets the back seat to showcase teh sexay.

So I take the original picture and try to get it right.

The story: Psylocke is ambushed by Ninjas. Middle Ninja tries to take her off her feet by grabbing her legs, Left Ninja stabs her with a sword and she is fighting to get herself free.

As I have noticed, some people have complained that redraws make the girls heavier. Usually I would say some people need to damn get over their fatphobia, pronto… but to prove a point, I tried to keep Psylocke’s usual figure (boobs and all). Alas, since I referenced myself and I’m not exactly a vigilante material, my Psylocke isn’t her usual top-model-thin self.

I still can’t fathom how the artist could pass on such a perfect opportunity to draw a justifiable B&B pose! Inconcievable!"

Good redline! Thanks for breaking it down for us! The redraw still keeps her in a boobs and butt pose but at least she doesn't look like a rubber horseshoe any more.
