Response to the earlier artist....

While not full time pro, I do make a substantial portion of my living off my art, and when a request comes along that I feel is overly exploitative, I say “no”. This includes “bigger tits” etc. And I know a good many pro artists who do the same. Just because a client wants something and can pay does not mean the artist is obliged to give it. I broke this rule one time, and one time only, because I was young and stupid. I’m STILL skeeved out by the guy who asked for that piece, and to this day it remains a regret of mine. It wasn’t worth the cash then and it remains not worth it today. I’ve been asked multiple times since then for art I found distasteful on various grounds, gratuitous sexualization being one of them. I say “no” every time.

Thanks for sharing your point of view!  Obviously it’s up to every individual artist to weigh how much they need the money with how much they want to do it, but it’s good to hear from your perspective, and yes you’re right, every artist does have a choice. :)
