misshatter: I usually love Joe

I usually love Joe Madureira’s art, but this one has some serious anatomy problems. I sort of ignored the blatant T&A and just fixed the pose anatomically, because there’s really no saving the blatant objectification of this one.

Obviously, most of our issues are in the hips, and the fact that her spine is collapsing in on itself. It’s like her ass and her ribcage are on different planes.

I made my plan of attack. I wanted to keep the original intent of blatant cheesecake in an over-the-top stylized way, but with better anatomy. The hand holding the knife is iffy, but doable when I posed in the mirror. I brought it in more over the shoulder than before, because my hand had to rest on my shoulder blade to pull this off. The elbow would come out over the top of her massive hair and you can’t see the rest of the arm at this angle with all her hair in the way. To get the boobs to deform correctly on that plane, the right arm had to be brought in more, and lowered. I put her legs on the same plane together and turned her ass into more of a profile as my best option to fix the spine issue.

Finished-ish! I rearranged her face a bit, fixed the perspective on the far eye and her lips in relation to her chin. Based on the original image, her skirt wasn’t a consistent length, so I did my best to correct it and make it act as if it were actually being pulled from that side. My best guess is that it would have to ride up on the left to accommodate the pull, but that’s why you should never draw anyone in a pleated skirt ever. I also made the breast deform more naturally along the curve of the arm its resting on, which is a lot sexier to me.

Sorry, it’s still a blatant boobs and butt pose, but at least it’s no longer an anatomically-dubious boobs/butt/cooch pose.

I’m okay with the exaggerated butt in the original as a stylized thing, but this is one excellent redraw, and looks REALLY sexy honestly.
