"This lovely piece of work by George Kamitani cropped up on my dash today. This is one of the two main characters of the game Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Momohime (in her Oboro persona) from the album art of the Muramasa soundtrack. Funny enough, I thought this was being posted by Eschergirls, but instead it was a reblog from a friend.
What absolutely gets me about this picture is the fact that the lower portion of her body is x-rayed, and you can clearly see the beginnings of her spinal column, but her upper body grows opaque right at the point where her spine is being severely contorted. Her neck is craned at an incredibly awkward forward angle, and I'm really not sure what's up with her hands on the grip of the sword. I'm also fairly certain her nipples are somewhere near her collarbone."
Before I read your comment, I also noticed that her spine conveniently vanishes where her back starts to bend backwards 90 degrees. xD It's kinda funny that she's shaped like a centaur woman and riding a horse.
It's also interesting because the parts with a skeleton are more defined since the skeleton grounds the anatomy, but her top half, as you say, is kinda like just mushy clay at points.
