Page from "Drawing cutting edge Fusion characters" with a woman in sketch and full colour standing in a boobs and butt pose wearing a pink shirt and green pants, text boxes read: "The twist of the torso creates a pleasing S curve int he pose." and "The suggestion of a breeze that's strong enough to lift parts of the character's outfit parallel to the ground produces a cool, dramatic effect." and "The Asian influence in the costume infuses the drawing with a manga feel."

Infuse your art with a manga feel with this one weird trick mangaka's don't want you to know!

I don't know which is more amazing in this page, the instruction to do a fairly static standing boobs and butt pose as making the pose look "more fluid and energetic", or that having an "Asian" costume "infuses the drawing with a manga feel" because obviously that's how manga works. xD

Also, since I'm Asian, I guess all my photos are infused with a manga feel too.

(Excerpt from "Drawing Cutting Edge Fusion: American comics with a Manga Influence" by Christopher Hart)

Page text reads:

"Twist the Figure: Twisting the body is another great way to create a sense of motion while a character is standing still. It makes the pose look more fluid and energetic.  This would ordinarily be a 3/4 rear view of the character.  But here, the torso twists so that the figure now looks back (toward the reader). As a result, the chest and hips rotate in opposite directions, which is more active than just standing straight forwardly."

"The twist of the torso creates a pleasing S curve int he pose."

"The suggestion of a breeze that's strong enough to lift parts of the character's outfit parallel to the ground produces a cool, dramatic effect."

"The Asian influence in the costume infuses the drawing with a manga feel."
