A redraw of an Avengelyne comic book cover by Rob Liefeld.

I started this one out by assuming that the character anticipated engaging in close combat, and as such needed a modicum of protection, while still maintaining some agility. My reasoning for this redesigned costume is that it has panels of layered, reinforced leather, similar to the pads that stuntmen wear under their clothes to protect against broken glass, blades, and impacts. I added a belt to the knives she carries, because the original didn’t make any sense.

I would have added flexible fabric panels to the costume where she would need to move, and added a more obvious way for the character to get in and out of the costume. I didn’t because if I worked on this any more, I would have had to fix that weird arm she has. And the swords.

I’ll try to post more of these as I work on various projects. I may need to make another blog just for my redraws.

Edit: when my wife saw the original, she said that the reason this woman looks so angry is that she didn’t have organs or a digestive system before. I think she’s right.

Here’s another of the Avengelyne reimaginings I got.  I really like the design of this one.  I think her cross is integrated really nicely into this, and I like the silver & black aesthetic.
