Redraw of Avengelyne scene in a serious cartoon style with Avengelyne lying on a beach in crusader knight armor instead of the black electric tape outfit she wears in the actual comics, the islander woman is in a white and red dress holding a spear and shaking Avengelyne while looking upset and saying "C'mon, you can't die! We won! We won..."
panel from Avengelyne: Dark Depths #2 showing Avengelyne lying unconscious on a beach while a tanned dark-haired woman with no top and a sash between her legs straddles her body and says "c'mon damn you... breathe! you can't die now. we won." with an extremely bored expression on her face, her arm blocks any nipple showing on her breasts

Since this scene featured on Escher Girls (warning: link neither safe for work, sanity, or storytelling) seemed like it had a lot of dramatic potential that wasn’t coming through in the drawing, I thought I’d try an alternate take on it. Sorry it’s so slapdash, but hey, I’m no pro, but it was fun.

Since the down-for-the-count woman had a electrical-tape swimsuit thing on that vaguely resembled a cross motif, it made me think of the surcoats that some medieval knights wore over their armor, so I indulged my silly love of drawing heavily armored clanking people, although I bet it’s hot on a tropical island. She should probably have a helmet on, but Oh Well.

The other woman was a little trickier, but since she seemed to be trying to be drawn as some kind of generic Pacific Islander, but weirdly sexualized for the content of the scene. Anyhow, I decided to run with that, but hopefully a little less generic and sexified. In mine, she’s wearing a pareu, a very versatile traditional Tahitian piece of clothing, and if you’re going to be moving around a lot, you might wear it tied at the shoulder and belted. (I’m no expert, I just googled around a little. Her hairstyle is completely bs’d.)

I made it daylight as opposed to sunset for no other reason than I felt like it — there’s obviously nothing wrong with having the scene set at sunset — it might even fit the story better.

Very nifty take on that scene. :)
