Hi, firstly, I love your blog and I want to thank you for all you do.

I was struck with inspiration to do a redraw of this post, and also get some practice using my new (first ever!) tablet.

I don’t know anything about this character, but I love the idea of characters like this. That’s why I decided to tackle this image in particular.

I made the bow a little smaller, since it was kinda huge. I put her hair into a more convenient (IMO) plait, changed the costume and cape according to my own liking, and drew her a new body as well as I could manage without any references. I wanted to let her keep her booty, while not shoving it in the viewer’s face, or vacuum-sealing it in her pants. I didn’t change the pose itself, at least not much, because I think the original image was supposed to be more of a decorative pin-up than a truly functional pose.

Overall, I think doing this redraw was really constructive for me. I began to see more of the errors in perspective in the original image as I drew over them, and while I know my drawing definitely isn’t perfect (I messed up the head/neck/right shoulder area pretty badly as a consequence of sticking too closely to the original), after many revisions and adjustments, I’m pretty happy with it anyway. This was a really fun exercise and I look forward to doing it more often!
