poppyash asked you: I just noticed

I just noticed something. The wooden mannequins some artists use to get pose references from and that some how-to books use (like the one that shows a 90 degree turn)… they look to have a ball for the waist. Maybe artists are getting confused and thinking waists act like a ball and socket joint? A quick search tells me the max spinal rotation is about 13 degrees.

We definitely know there’s at least one “how to draw” artist who thinks that women’s waists are ball joints.
