Not sure what Scarlet and Elektra are doing here… but I don’t think it’s fighting…

It’s interesting that there’s a slightly different version on the Marvel database which, presumably, was what Marvel ended up publishing (the picture above is from a Greg Horn artbook).  I wonder if somebody thought it was just a LITTLE too obvious what Horn was tracing from in the original and asked him to change it.

Among the many, many problems here, this perfectly illustrates why NOT to trace your poses from cobbled together photo sources (especially porn when what you’re drawing isn’t porn; poor Elektra looks like she’s falling the fuck over, and the yonic fabric folds right above her pubic bone are so gratuitous it’s just sad).  Namely, it’s really fucking obvious to spot.

Like so:

My guess is that the woman in the original photo was mostly lying down and bracing all of her right elbow, which would have left her hand nowhere near the right position Horn needed to stab Shadowcat in the crotch.  But instead of redrawing the whole shoulder, he left her upper arm bent back behind her and just pasted a giant forearm (that’s much larger and more muscular than her left) where he he thought it looked okay and to hell with perspective and correcting for differences in lighting between the two source photos.

Good analysis, and you might be right about the original photo that was referenced/traced.  The only correction is that that’s Scarlett from G.I. Joe, not Kitty Pryde, but it sure does look like it’s supposed to be Kitty.
