deannambrigman redraw of Spider-Woman

Wow… the villains blew her up, stitched her back together and dropped her from a plane to send the Avengers a message.  They aren’t f-ing around.

(That picture is the epitome of what I hate about this art.  It’s just “get a butt in there” “get a boob with a nipple in there” and who cares about the rest?)

I decided that as an effort to get better as an artist I would give my self little challenges. So I decided that I would practice by correcting some of the artwork on the great tumblr: http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/

I clicked on the random post button and this image of Spider-Woman came up. I can certainly say that this one has been a challenge.

I started by trying to rough in Spider-Woman’s anatomy. And I can say that this artist definitely picked a very difficult pose to try to convey. You can see where I have roughed in the volumes that this drawing had several anomalies. Her right arm didn’t appear to have a bicep portion and her legs didn’t really match up with her torso. Also her dangling breast really seemed out of place.

I went through several sketches before getting to this pose. I tried to match up her leg placements and I realized that the original torso did not match up with the rest of the body so I had to draw it in differently. I also moved both of her arms so they seemed to fit on her body a bit better. I felt that you would not be able to see her breasts from this position so I did not try to fit them in.

I think it is more accurate than the original pose but I am still not 100 percent confident with the results. I can say this pose was a bit frustrating to depict and respect the original artist for even attempting it.

Really good attempt in trying to sort out and fix this pose!  It’s one of the biggest jumbles of anatomy I’ve seen and you made it make some sense!
